HVAC service technician (heat pumps, AC, heat recovery ventilation)

We're looking for a service technician: maintenance visits, fault finding and repairs on heat pumps, air conditioning and ventilation units around Poznań. Own service van and a permanent contract.

What you will do

  • Scheduled maintenance of heat pumps, AC units and heat recovery ventilation units for service contract clients
  • Fault finding: reading controller error codes, measuring pressures and temperatures, checking electrics
  • Refrigerant circuit repairs: replacing components, recovering and charging refrigerant, leak tests
  • Leak checks and entries in the Polish operator register (CRO) where the rules require it
  • Adjusting controller settings and heating curves after talking to the client
  • On-call shifts in the heating season on a rota, on average one weekend a month

What we expect

  • F-gas personnel certificate, category I
  • Polish SEP G1 electrical qualification up to 1 kV (operation)
  • Driving licence, category B
  • At least 2 years servicing or installing refrigeration, AC or heat pump equipment
  • Able to diagnose faults on your own and explain to the client what happened and what it will cost
  • Comfortable with a tablet and service app, photo record of every visit

Nice to have

  • Experience with R290 units and safe working practice with flammable refrigerants
  • Knowledge of heat recovery ventilation units
  • Experience with VRF or multi-split systems in commercial buildings
  • SEP supervision qualification (D)

What we offer

  • Equipped service van, which you can take home during on-call periods
  • Full service kit: recovery unit, vacuum pump, digital manifold, leak detector
  • Workwear and safety boots
  • Manufacturer service training several times a year, during working hours
  • Private medical care
  • Subsidised sports card
  • Paid overtime and a separate on-call allowance
  • Quarterly bonus

About the role

Our service department is run by Agnieszka Wróblewska. It has five service vans, its own dispatcher and handles around 3,400 visits a year. Some are planned maintenance, some are "no heating" or "the AC is dripping" calls. We need another person because the department has grown every year along with the number of heat pumps we've installed.

We mostly service equipment we fitted ourselves, but we also take on systems installed by other companies. So experience with different brands helps, and so does staying calm in front of an installation that doesn't look the way it should.

A typical week

  • Outside the heating season (May-September): 4-6 visits a day, mostly AC and ventilation maintenance, cleaning, filter changes, leak checks.
  • In the heating season (October-April): fewer maintenance visits, more fault finding. Contract clients get a response within 48 hours, and for "no heating" calls we try to be there the same day.
  • Every morning the dispatcher sets your route in the app, and you can see the unit's history, previous visits and photos from the installation.
  • On call: from October to April we take emergency calls daily from 7:00 to 21:00. The whole team shares the rota, which works out at about one weekend a month. Every on-call shift is paid separately, whether or not you get called out.

The warehouse orders parts, not the technician. You also don't have to agree repair prices with the client yourself. The office does that based on your diagnosis.

Recruitment steps

  1. Send your CV to rekrutacja@example.com with the code BS-SERW-0926 in the subject. Mention which equipment you've worked on most.
  2. Phone call with Agnieszka Wróblewska, about 20 minutes.
  3. Meeting in Poznań and a short practical task on our training rig: diagnosing a heat pump with a fault we've set up.
  4. One paid trial day on the road with an experienced technician.
  5. Decision within a week. For the first month you work in a pair, then on your own.
